This month we’re asking the whole community to get involved with our latest project.  Working with award-winning artist, Liam Hopkins, (as known as Lazerian) we plan to build a giant angel in Angel Meadow Park – just in time for Christmas!

All too often in our busy lives we forget to recycle, and yet it is one of the simplest ways we can help the environment. Our angel is going to be made entirely of used plastic bottles. And this is where you come in…

A phenomenal 25,000 plastic bottles are needed for this project, which are to be collected and recycled in just four weeks! Many hands make light work, so we have roped in the help of local schools and community groups to collect and donate as many plastic bottles as possible for the piece. And you can also donate your used-plastic water bottles, no matter what shape and size, please keep them to one side and drop them off at one of our many locations across Manchester city centre.

“As an artist I find strength and beauty in the lightest and most ubiquitous of materials and plastic bottles are exactly the sort of products that we want to work with in this multi-dimensional design. It is a true community effort bringing together the base materials through the local schools, the paint manufacturer and the charity to combine resources to create a thing of beauty.”- Liam Hopkins

This Winter, Angel Meadow Park’s “Angel” will lay pride of place amidst the MeadowSide development, not only a display of Christmas and community spirit, but a true symbol of hard-work and sustainable living.
