Yoga in the Meadow is Back this April!

Beginning your day with Yoga has a number of benefits on your mind and body. Looking after your wellbeing is always important, but as April is National Stress Awareness month, its more relevant than ever!

National Stress Awareness Month aims to promote the causes and coping mechanisms for stress in our daily lives. Stress is a normal part of our lives, and nobody is immune to it, so it is important to know how to recognise and combat it.

One proven way to de-stress is through exercise. The guideline for adults is 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week, which is not only good for your heart, but also your head.

Exercise is so beneficial as it reduces levels of the body’s stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol and stimulates the production of endorphins, the body’s natural mood elevators. Any form of exercise can help lower your stress levels and improve your quality of life, whereas vigorous exercise can leave you on a high with an accompanied sense of achievement, less strenuous exercise such as a short walk or Yoga can clear your head, relax your mind and help reduce stress.

Yoga is a form of meditative movement which promotes relaxation – the opposite of stress, and mindfulness, by enabling you to focus on your body, mind and breathing and be present with your thoughts and feelings. This practice of mindfulness can also improve your sleep!

Not only does Yoga decrease stress and anxiety, but it also increases strength and flexibility and can improve your posture – something which is especially important for sitting at a desk every day!
